Tender chicken thighs are lightly seared, then finished in the oven while simmering in a rich, garlicky cream sauce. Simple ingredients come together for a comforting, restaurant-style dinner made in one skillet.
5 chicken thighs skinless & boneless, dried with paper towel
1 teaspoon 21 Salute Seasoning from Trader Joe's or use any poultry seasoning of your choice
salt & pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter unsalted
For Creamy Sauce
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons garlic finely chopped
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup chicken broth
½ cup heavy whipping cream
½ cup Parmesan cheese or prieve cheese, finely grated
salt & pepper to taste
2 teaspoon dill finely chopped for garnish, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Season the chicken thighs on both sides with the poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Heat 2 tablespoons butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Prepare the Cream Sauce
Using the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add the chopped garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Slowly pour in the chicken broth, continuing to stir, and cook for 1 minute until the sauce begins to thicken.
Add the heavy whipping cream and stir well. Mix in the grated cheese and season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, spooning the sauce over each piece to coat evenly.
Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through.
Garnish with chopped dill and extra cheese if desired. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Patting the chicken dry before seasoning helps the spices adhere better and allows for proper browning.
Butter adds depth and richness to both the chicken and sauce, though olive oil can be substituted if preferred.
Avoid overcrowding the skillet when searing to ensure even cooking and a better crust.
