Ingredients

(Measurements unchanged)
  • 2 cups uncooked egg noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook them following the package directions.
  2. While the noodles cook, warm a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Break the meat apart as it cooks and continue until it’s deeply browned, about 10 minutes.
If your beef isn’t lean, drain off excess fat—but leave a couple of tablespoons in the pan for flavor.
  3. Lower the heat to medium. Stir in the garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning. Let everything cook together for 1 minute.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir for 1–2 minutes. This step helps the gravy thicken without a raw flour taste.
  5. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly. Scrape the bottom of the pan to free any browned bits.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 5–10 minutes, stirring now and then, until the gravy becomes as thick as you like.
If it thickens too much, add a splash more broth.
  7. Drain the noodles once cooked. Add them directly into the skillet and toss to coat them in the beef gravy. Taste and season with salt and pepper before serving.
Notes
This recipe is meant to be budget-friendly and straightforward, making it easy to adapt. Feel free to experiment—many cooks enjoy adding mushrooms, peppers, extra herbs, or a spoonful of sour cream or cream cheese.
