Air Fryer Apple Pie Bombs

These Air Fryer Apple Pie Bombs are bite-sized apple-filled treats with a crisp golden exterior and a warm, cinnamon-spiced center. They're quick to make and taste best served fresh while still warm, with a buttery cinnamon-sugar coating on every bite.

Notes

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice**
  • 8 ounces Pillsbury Grand Biscuits (I used an 8 oz can)
  • 1 cup apple pie filling, cut apples into small bite-size pieces
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (one stick)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and apple pie spice until evenly combined. Set aside.
  2. Open the biscuit can and separate each biscuit into two equal layers, creating a total of 16 dough circles.
  3. Flatten each dough piece into a thin round approximately 3–4 inches across.**
  4. In a medium bowl, toss the chopped apple pie filling with the cinnamon until all of the apple pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Spoon a small amount of the apple mixture into the center of each dough round, leaving about ¼ inch of space around the edges.
  6. Bring the edges of the dough up around the filling and pinch them tightly together to seal, forming smooth balls.
  7. Line your air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil. Arrange the pie bombs in a single layer, leaving about ½ inch between each one. Avoid overcrowding the basket and cook in batches if needed.
  8. Air fry at 350°F for 6–8 minutes, or until the biscuit dough is puffed and golden brown.
  9. After cooking, dip each pie bomb into the melted butter, then roll it in the prepared sugar and spice mixture until completely coated. Repeat until all of the pie bombs are finished.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Notes

  • Homemade Apple Pie Spice: If you don't have apple pie spice, mix together:
    • 1½ teaspoons cinnamon
    • ¾ teaspoon nutmeg
    • ¼ teaspoon allspice
    • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
    • ¼ teaspoon ginger
  • Rolling Tip: Cover the biscuit dough with a sheet of parchment paper before rolling. This helps prevent sticking and allows the parchment to peel away easily once the dough is flattened.
