Tender roasted sweet potato rounds get a holiday-inspired finish with warm cinnamon and maple, a puffed marshmallow topping, and a pecan pressed into every bite. They work well as a festive appetizer or a sweet-and-savory side.
2large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into ½-inch-thick rounds
2tbspmelted butter
1tbspmaple syrup
1/4tspcinnamon
1/4tspsalt
12marshmallows, sliced in half
24pecan halves
Instructions
Heat the oven to 400°F and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange the sliced sweet potatoes on the prepared baking sheet. Pour the melted butter and maple syrup over them, then add the cinnamon and salt. Toss until every piece is thoroughly coated, then spread the rounds into a single layer.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, turning the rounds over halfway through cooking. They are ready when the sweet potatoes are tender.
Set one marshmallow half on each sweet potato round. Switch the oven to high broil and broil for 30–60 seconds, just until the marshmallows puff.
As soon as the bites come out of the oven, carefully press one pecan half into the marshmallow on each round. Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes
Slice evenly: Cut the sweet potatoes into ½-inch-thick rounds so they roast evenly and finish cooking at about the same time.
Check for doneness: The sweet potatoes should be fork-tender after 20–25 minutes of baking.
Watch the broiler: Marshmallows brown quickly! Broil for just 30–60 seconds, watching closely until they puff.
Prep the pecans first: Have the pecan halves ready so you can press them into the marshmallows while they’re still warm and soft.
Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
Reheating: Warm in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes or microwave in 30-second intervals until heated through.
Make ahead: Sliced sweet potatoes can be stored submerged in cold water in the refrigerator for 2–3 days. Drain and pat them dry before using.
Freezing: Freezing is not recommended, as it can affect the texture of the sweet potatoes and marshmallow topping.
