A fast, flavorful beef dish inspired by classic bulgogi—perfect for busy nights when you want something satisfying without spending much time in the kitchen.
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or more if you enjoy extra heat
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef
2 green onions, thinly sliced
¼ teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, and ginger. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and the sugar begins to dissolve.
Warm the vegetable oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring continuously so it doesn’t burn.
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 3–5 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain off any excess fat.
Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and mix it into the beef. Add the green onions and let everything simmer together for roughly 2 minutes, just until heated through.
Serve right away. Top with extra green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if you’d like.
