Notes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise (full-fat is best)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tomatillos (husks removed and cut in half)
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro (roughly chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno (seeds removed for mild heat, roughly chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (about 1/2 of a lime)
  • 2 cloves garlic

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender, following the order listed above. Blend on high speed for at least 1 minute, or until the mixture is fully smooth and well combined.
  2. Transfer the dressing to a covered container (such as Tupperware) and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours before serving.
  3. This dressing can also be prepared in advance and chilled overnight.
  4. For a thinner consistency, add a bit more buttermilk if desired. Do not exceed 1 cup total.

Additional Notes

  • Yield: About 2.5 cups of dressing
  • Serving Size: 1/4 cup (approximately 10 servings total)
  • Tomatillos: Found in the produce section near cilantro and jalapeños. Remove the outer husk before cutting.
  • Jalapeño: For less heat, remove seeds and membranes. For more spice, include them.
  • Mayonnaise: Full-fat provides the best flavor and texture.
  • Refrigeration: Chilling is essential for flavor development—allow at least 4 hours before serving.
