Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped in half
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/8 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning, or more to taste
  • salt

Instructions

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Place green beans into a large skillet and cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until beans just start to soften, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Drain and return to the skillet. Add butter and stir until melted, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add garlic; cook until tender and fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Season with lemon-pepper seasoning and salt before serving.

Notes

Recipe Notes

  • Don’t overcook the green beans. Simmer them just until they start to soften, about 3 to 5 minutes. They’ll continue cooking once they’re returned to the skillet.
  • Drain the beans well. Getting rid of the excess water helps the butter coat the green beans instead of becoming watery.
  • Watch the garlic closely. Minced garlic cooks quickly, so 1 to 2 minutes is all you need. Cook just until it becomes tender and fragrant.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste. Start with ⅛ teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning as written, then add a little more if you prefer a stronger lemon-pepper flavor.
  • For the best texture, serve right away. These green beans are especially good warm from the skillet while they’re still crisp-tender and coated in melted garlic butter.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave until warmed through.
