A simple baked blueberry dessert with juicy fruit underneath a soft, lightly golden batter topping. It works with either fresh or frozen blueberries and uses everyday baking ingredients.
Cut the butter into pieces and place them in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Put the dish in the oven as it preheats so the butter can melt. Once the butter has melted, take the dish out of the oven.
Place the blueberries in a bowl with the 1/2 cup sugar and lemon zest. Stir until evenly combined.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and stir only until the mixture comes together.
Pour the blueberry mixture over the melted butter in the baking dish.
Drizzle the batter over the blueberries, then finish with a light sprinkling of ground cinnamon.
Bake at 350°F for approximately 35–40 minutes, until the top is lightly golden.
Serve while warm. Add a scoop of ice cream if desired.

Recipe Notes
Blueberries: Fresh or frozen blueberries both work well. Frozen berries don’t need to be completely thawed before using, though they may make the filling a little more saucy.
Don’t overmix the batter: Stir in the milk just until everything comes together to help keep the topping soft and tender.
Check for doneness: The cobbler is ready when the top is lightly golden, usually after 35–40 minutes at 350°F.
Let it rest: Give the cobbler a few minutes to cool after baking. The blueberry juices will settle slightly, and it will be easier to serve.
Serving: This cobbler is especially good warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream.
Storage: Cover leftovers and refrigerate for 4–5 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or warm the cobbler at 350°F for about 20 minutes.
