  • Lined baking pan
  • Large skillet
  • Small bowl and pastry brush
  • Instant-read thermometer (optional)

Ingredients

Cheeseburgers

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef 85% lean
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion diced
  • 12 slider-size Hawaiian rolls 1 package
  • 12 cheese snack bars (3/4 oz each) any flavour

Glaze (optional)

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted (1/2 stick)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp sesame seeds plus extra to garnish

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 350°F.
  • Mix the ground beef with the garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  • Press the beef into the base of a 9x13-inch baking dish in a flat, even layer. Bake for 20 minutes, then drain off the liquid and set aside.
  • Slice the block of rolls in half horizontally and set the bottom half in a lined baking pan. Lay the cooked beef on top.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, until soft, translucent and fragrant.
  • Spread the onion over the beef, add the cheese, then put the top half of the rolls back on.
  • Mix all the glaze ingredients in a small bowl. Brush or pour it generously over the tops of the rolls and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for another 20 minutes, until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted. Cut into individual sliders and serve hot.

Notes

  1. Doneness: Check the beef in the centre of the pan with an instant-read thermometer to make sure it is cooked to your liking.
